Hello, Gundo 👋 

In this week’s newsletter, as always, we’ve got lots of great events all over town — from a Lunar New Year celebration at The Point to a whole bunch of sports, trivia nights, and meet-ups.

It’s also the final stretch of DineLA restaurant week if you’re looking for deals at some of the best restaurants in town.

Here’s what’s happening around the neighborhood this week.

DineLA Restaurant Week Ends Next Friday

There are DineLA restaurant specials, with prix fixe menus for lunch and/or dinner, that started last week and run through Friday, February 7th.

El Segundo restaurants participating this year:

Plus tons more restaurants near and far if you’re ready to venture outside the 🫧 .

Also, LA Tourism and Banc of California will donate a total of $10 to the American Red Cross for wildfire relief for every DineLA reservation made.

Thursday, January 30th

⚽️ The FIFA men’s World Cup is coming to North America in the summer of 2026. (Which is next year, even though it sounds like the distant future.) SoFi Stadium one of the venues. If you’re interested in volunteering, FIFA has put out the call.

Yes, the Hawthorne Costco is outside the Gundo 🫧 , but this is still Big News that will affect so many of us in town.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

We’re Sam and Angie Greenspan, El Segundo residents and since 2016 and major El Segundo boosters ever since.

We also believed we were the right people to give this town its first newsletter.

Angie’s a realtor who works here in town and all over L.A. — so she’s plugged in to everything happening and has been a de facto source for local event info for years. Sam’s a writer and works in email marketing.
