Hello, Gundo 👋 

Though the holiday events aren’t coming as fast or furious as they did last weekend, there’s still lots to do all over town this weekend to get you in a festive mood!

Oh, and we also have New Year’s Eve parties in the newsletter this week so you can figure that out too.

It’s a Wonderful Life

You’re devastated that all the Old Town Music Hall Christmas movies sell out far in advance. El Segundo doesn’t really have any bridges, so instead you go to the next best thing which is the 105 freeway interchange with Imperial. Close enough, you say, though it’s really not. But just then, an angel comes down to show you what El Segundo would be like if you never existed. Zero upscale Mexican restaurants as opposed to five. The Clippers headquarters instead of the Lakers. The Jerry Seinfeld Pop-Tarts movie using an actual factory for their establishing shots rather than an AI-altered version of El Segundo High School. You start running around town yelling in joy, “Merry Christmas, water treatment plant! Merry Christmas, I ❤️ Teriyaki!” And then you set a calendar alert for November 29th, 2026 to buy tickets in advance and I earn my wings.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

We’re Sam and Angie Greenspan, El Segundo residents and since 2016 and major El Segundo boosters ever since.

We also believed we were the right people to give this town its first newsletter.

Angie’s a realtor who works here in town and all over L.A. — so she’s plugged in to everything happening and has been a de facto source for local event info for years. Sam’s a writer and works in email marketing.
