February is here this weekend… and with that, it appears Valentine’s Day has already begun. The first Valentine’s events have come to town (and, we’d assume, are just the tip of the heart-shaped iceberg).

As always, if and when new events pop up or any details change, we’ll share them on the Hello Gundo Instagram.

From what I can gather, you play in a 32-person Mario Kart tournament bracket with various drinking rules — with a cash prize! Maybe if it was Mario Kart 64 I’d saunter in there and whoop up on a bunch of kids calling me Unc but since it appears to be the newer Mario Kart I’m going to stay home instead and lecture my family about how good I used to be at complicated drinking games.

105 closures start this week
El Segundo’s own personal freeway will have some closures this week. Looks like a lot of it is closer to the 110 exchange but be aware from tomorrow (Jan. 30) through February 6th if you’re driving at night.

La Paz has been open again for a week now. Their hours are Mon–Fri 10 AM–9 PM, Sat 9 AM–9 PM, and Sun 9 AM–8:30 PM.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

We’re Sam and Angie Greenspan, El Segundo residents and since 2016 and major El Segundo boosters ever since.

We also believed we were the right people to give this town its first newsletter.

Angie’s a realtor who works here in town and all over L.A. — so she’s plugged in to everything happening and has been a de facto source for local event info for years. Sam’s a writer and works in email marketing.
