Welcome to the unofficial beginning of summer!
It’s actually a bit of a slower week for events in town — seems like everyone is expecting us to make our own plans over Memorial Day weekend — but we’ve still got a pretty solid array of music, trivia, and more.
As always, if and when new events pop up, we’ll share them on the Hello Gundo Instagram.

The Bar - Handrolls by Seabutter is now open
The popular handroll spot has officially opened its El Segundo location. It’s in Plaza El Segundo (720 S. Allied Way).
Rite Aid is said to be closing
Though there’s no “official official” announcement, it appears we are, in fact, losing our Rite Aid. Someone posted anonymously on the El Segundo Community Network Facebook page, showing a letter from Rite Aid saying they’re closing June 19th and all prescriptions will be transferred to Ralphs. I suppose it’s possible they forged the letter but that seems like a whole lot of work to get 15 Facebook sad hugging face emoji reactions.
Rec Park is offering new after school childcare this fall
Rec Park is starting Club Cowabunga as a spot for kids to go after school. You can register or learn more on their website. Check the After School Programs tab.

We’re Sam and Angie Greenspan, El Segundo residents and since 2016 and major El Segundo boosters ever since.
We also believed we were the right people to give this town its first newsletter.
Angie’s a realtor who works here in town and all over L.A. — so she’s plugged in to everything happening and has been a de facto source for local event info for years. Sam’s a writer and works in email marketing.
